Project: Weld repair and pipeline replacement during planned shutdown

Location: Taranto, Italy

Processes: SMAW 111, TIG 141, Arc-Air Gouging, Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)

During a scheduled turnaround at a major onshore refinery, our team was contracted to execute critical weld repairs and replace over 120 meters of aged carbon steel and stainless steel piping. The work was carried out under tight time constraints, requiring high-efficiency coordination between welding, fitting, and NDT teams.

Arc-air gouging was used to remove worn-out welds, followed by TIG and stick welding for new joints in both vertical and overhead positions. All connections in high-risk zones underwent dye penetrant testing to ensure full integrity. Despite the complexity of access and coordination with other trades on-site, the project was completed within the planned 18-day window without incidents or delays.
